Our commitment towards sustainability

Our mission is to help your pet live a long, healthy, and happy life — that includes doing our part to support the earth we share. At Fera, we’re actively taking steps to ensure that we operate in alignment with a healthier planet and future for our pets.

Recovering nature-bound plastic waste

Fera Pets is now certified Plastic Neutral with rePurpose Global. With every product we sell, we are financing vetted impact projects that will recover and remove as much plastic waste from the environment as we use in our packaging and operations. In addition to reducing plastic use in our supply chain wherever possible, our partnership with rePurpose Global allows us to create immediate impact on plastic pollution, while supporting ethical wages for marginalized waste workers in India.

By supporting rePurpose Global’s impact project Hara Kal in Kerala, India we’re helping to protect the state and its ocean coastline from plastic pollution by enabling the collection and processing of low value plastic that is usually unlikely to be recovered from the environment. Project Hara Kal supports the livelihoods of over 800 wasteworkers - 98% of whom are women.

Corporate social responsibility

is cemented in Fera’s DNA because our people believe deeply in making the world a better place. Continued growth comes increased responsibility and commitment to our values.

As a part of our larger sustainability goals, Fera is committed to calculate and offset the carbon emissions across our entire business operations with the goal of carbon neutrality by 2030. We have partnered with EcoCart to offer carbon neutral orders by offsetting emissions that come from the production and shipping of our products. At checkout, you'll notice the option to join us in these efforts.

We believe we can be both a great business and a great corporate citizen. In fact, we believe we cannot be one without the other.

Pet Sustainability Coalition

The Pet Sustainability Coalition is a collaborative nonprofit that provides tools, educational resources, and implementation support to drive environmental and social impact. As a member of the PSC, we’re committed to implementing sustainable business practices that minimize our impact on the environment and our communities.

We believe sustainability is a critical component of any successful business strategy and are proud to say that we are taking steps towards a more sustainable future for our customers and the pets they love.

We made a pledge.

We’ve joined the PSC Packaging Pledge which supports pet companies moving to 100% recyclable, reusable, or compostable packaging by 2025.

In April 2023, we launched our first product line in flexible, 100% recyclable pouches. We’ve also become a member of How2Recycle for increased consumer guidance and transparency, and are focused on improving our label materials for increased end-of-life recyclability.
